Until one day the mighty hammer of the CCP gods crippled my right arm (read: repair tool) and said unto me "Due to the sins of thine brethren, thou art punished and made lame. Cry unto the world of the woes thine WARRIORS brethren have cause to fall upon thy shoulders and rue the day they they teamed up to ruin the life of all logistics players!" Since that day I have struggled along repairing sparingly and trying to make up for lost progression with what useful tools remained available to one such as I.
I am no front line fighter, I am no 20/0 beast of the battlefield, I am but a lowly and poor soul who eeks out a living mainly from the kind souls who are courteous enough to use my nanohives, droplinks and hacks (which I rarely get wearing the second slowest suit in the game), and from helping out the occasional downed ally who requests my assistance. I am a crippled shadow of my former self without the growth help of my right arm.
I used to have a chance to be top of my teams scorboard on the merit of my helpful nature, being an awesome medic was just as rewarding as being an awesome defense for my team. Now I can only reach such a position when I play with a team that has a hard time dealing with the enemy and has no choice but to either spawn in at my droplinks or risk randomly spawning in front of an enemy.
I am going to have to try to put points into other areas late in the build now I suppose, and it is going to be painful to try to keep up with others who are far better specialized for combat than I am, but without any gain from my repair tool I feel I have little choice. If you see me on the battle field, look not for me to heal you any longer. I am through with it. If I am called upon by my corp to battle for them, I will use it for the good of STB even though it will cause me to lag in my score, but outside of that I will no longer be full Logi-support. If the great gods of CCP deem that I am worthy of having my right arm back I will come back with a vengeance to aid my brothers in arms, until then thank you for reading. As someone who repped pre-Codex, I haven't noticed a change in my SPl. I gain more SP by carrying an extra nanohive or uplink anyways. Now, in corp battles ect i will always run a rep if i have a heavy to follow, but for the most part the 25 sp from healing someone was never consistent, i would probably get around two or three +25 sp's a match, regardless of the fact that i was healing _EVERYONE_. The tick for WP was way off, meaning, you needed to heal heavies to get ensure you would get a tick. I would ride in an LAV with my squad to objectives. Once it was hacked, I'd heal everyone and repair the LAV which almost always takes some damage from random grenades and bullets then move on to the next. Also, repairing supply depots and weapon installations gave up plenty. You don't want to enter an installation that can only handle one more hit, so repping an installation for an ally was a big help and repping it as it takes swarms can let the person in it be able to get off one or two more shots before it goes down. I would also sometimes (when I could get a bunch of people together) run in a straight logi-squad and the rest of my team would protect our group and bring their vehicles and wounded to us in ambush matches for repairs.
You apparently didn't know how to take full advantage of the repair tools many uses for SP. They did at one point disable repping installations and supply depots I think, but there was plenty of SP to be had with a repair tool if you knew where to look. I ran nothing but repair tools and nanohives and was near the top almost every match with little or no kills. This pissed off those who obsess over K/D ratio when I scored a 2/2 kdr and my score topped people with a 17/1, but I felt I was being recognized for being a highly useful part of the team despite not being an excellent front line fighter. I use droplinks plenty and hives too, but it doesn't make up for the SP I got for actively supporting my team when they are in firefights. |
